Location:
The camp is secluded in a forest of young spruce, fir, and birch trees near the forestry training center at Hohenohl, at an altitude of over 500 meters in the picturesque Frickenhofer Höhe mountain range. The landscape here is characterized by extensive mixed forests and panoramic highlands, where, on a clear day, you can see as far as the Albtrauf. The village of Gschwend, with numerous amenities, is about 3 km away. We will provide you with the exact location and other important information in the reservation email.

Infrastructure:
The camp is well connected to the hiking trail network. Numerous hiking trails lead along the Hohenohl. The camp itself is equipped with a compost toilet, a fire pit with seating, and two small bench-table sets where you can enjoy your snack in the middle of the forest. The camp also has three well-separated pitches for your tent. At all pitches, you will definitely find the peace and quiet you are looking for. Two pitches are equipped with wood chips for a soft night's sleep. Another pitch even has a wooden platform in the middle of the trees where you are guaranteed to find another cozy spot for the night. There is also a small, lovingly crafted forest hut as a shelter if the weather is not as good as planned. However, please continue to use the designated pitches in your own tent for overnight stays. There is no stream nearby. However, it is possible to fill up with water at the forestry training center in Hohenohl. The wood used comes from sustainable sources in the immediate vicinity!

Fire:
The woodpile for the fire pit is located inside the small shelter, where you can help yourself as needed. When lighting a fire, be sure to follow our tips for handling fires. Please only use the fire pit if the forest fire warning level (WBI) has reached a maximum of level 3. From forest fire warning level 4 onwards, it is prohibited to use the fire pit. When this level is reached, a red warning notice will also appear on the booking website. Please be sure to heed this warning notice.

Notes:
Please behave calmly and responsibly towards your environment during your stay. Wild animals should not be disturbed. Stay in the camp area after dusk so as not to disturb the sensitive feeding hours of the forest's animal inhabitants. Please leave electronic music players at home; they have no place in such an environment. Leave the site and the compost toilet in a clean condition. Therefore, be sure to bring garbage bags for your trekking tour. The compost toilet works with litter. A litter bucket is available for this purpose. Please pour a small scoop of litter into the toilet after each use. Subsequent guests of the toilet will thank you!

Connection with other camps:
Camp Försterruh is an ideal addition to your trekking adventure on the way from Camp Waldeslicht near Spraitbach. It is only a 13 km walk from Camp Försterruh through the idyllic Hafental valley. If you wish, you can extend the route via Hagberg, which offers great views of our region, to around 20 km. You can find more information under our tour tips.

For those who don't like walking, there is also a hiking car park about 500 meters away on the quiet local road between Gschwend and Rotenhar. Please do not park on the grounds of the Hohenohl Forestry Training Center. This is reserved for forestry employees only.

Supply options:
In Gschwend, you have numerous options for stocking up on supplies for your night. In addition to a supermarket, there are also delicacies available in the center of town for your overnight stay. Unfortunately, there are currently no direct sellers in the immediate vicinity. Should this change, we will of course provide the latest information here. However, every Thursday afternoon during the trekking season, there is also a weekly market where several regional market vendors offer their products.
