Information about the camp

Trekking Banner Camp 3

Location:
The camp is idyllically located above the Leintal valley on a hill at the edge of the forest, surrounded by grazing sheep, old oak trees, beech trees, and pine trees in a small hollow. It is tucked away next to a path into the forest. The Leinroder Bach stream also babbles nearby. At the edge of the camp, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the picturesque Leintal valley.
We will provide you with the exact location and other important information in the reservation email.

Infrastructure:
As with the other camps, Camp Leinglück has minimal facilities for your purist adventure in the midst of nature high above the Leintal valley. It has three separate pitches with wood chips, which guarantee you a pleasantly soft night in your own tent. The wooden bench and table set, right next to the furnished fire pit with grill rack, invites you to linger. You will find wood for the fire pit in the lockable box. There is also a composting toilet at the camp.

Local public transport will take you to Abtsgmünd on various bus routes, from where it is only 3 kilometers to the camp. Regional bus routes (all day on weekdays and between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekends) will take you to Aalen Central Station in just under 20 minutes, from where it takes less than an hour to reach Stuttgart Central Station on the regional express. There are also fast connections to Ulm and Middle Franconia. For those who still want to travel by car, parking spaces are available on Leintalstraße. There is no direct road to the camp.

Fire:
For a romantic camping experience, Camp Leinglück also has a barbecue and fire pit available for your use. The wood for the fire pit is stored in a lockable wood box next to the compost toilet in the upper area of the camp. You will receive the code for this in your reservation email. When lighting a fire, please be sure to follow our tips for handling fires. Please only use the fire pit if the forest fire warning level (WBI) has reached a maximum of level 3 (reference station: Kaisersbach-Cronhütte). From forest fire warning level 4 onwards, it is prohibited to use the fire pit. It is then also secured with a combination lock. When this level is reached, a red warning notice also appears on the booking website. Please adhere to this warning. Of course, it is also prohibited to light any fires away from the actual fire pit.

Supply:
To provide you with culinary delights for your night at camp, there are several places in the surrounding area where you can purchase regional products. In nearby Roßnagel, you can buy local dairy products and eggs. For lovers of meat products, there is also a wide range of sausages to top your fresh bread. Another option is available in Abtsgmünd itself, with a vending machine provided by the Hermansfeld farm shop in the Remstal valley. There is another Regiomat in Butzenberg in the nearby Kocher valley, which offers homemade spaetzle in addition to sausage products and snacks. The weekly farmers' market with market vendors from the region takes place every Thursday afternoon at Rathausplatz. Abtsgmünd also has three supermarkets with an extensive range of products near the Kocher.

Note:
There is no water supply in this camp. However, there is a stream in the immediate vicinity. You can also fetch water here to extinguish the fire. A bucket is available for this purpose next to the wood box. Please only use the wood from this box for the fire. A private forest owner has also stacked wood nearby, which is expressly not available for use by the camp! Please adhere to this notice.

Please behave calmly and responsibly towards your surroundings during your stay. Wild animals should not be disturbed. Stay in the camp area after dusk so as not to disturb the sensitive feeding hours of the forest's animal inhabitants. Please leave electronic music players at home; they have no place in such an environment. Leave the site and the compost toilet in a clean condition. Therefore, be sure to bring garbage bags for your trekking tour.

The compost toilet works with litter. A litter bucket is provided for this purpose. Please pour a small scoop of litter into the toilet after each use. Subsequent guests will thank you for it!

Connection with other camps:
The camp is not located directly on marked hiking trails. The forest path starting at the camp leads with a few turnoffs to the Kocher Valley north of Abtsgmünd, where you can join a rewarding hike in the Limpurg Mountains. Another camp near the Altenberg Tower is currently being planned in order to offer a trekking route from camp to camp (as of June 2025). Until then, the camp near Spraitbach can be reached by ambitious trekkers on a 25-kilometer hike through the Leintal valley and its surrounding plateaus. The camp in Gschwend can also be reached via the Frickenhofer Höhe in just under 25 kilometers. We recommend circling Abtsgmünd on municipal hiking trail 6 via the Lein and Kocher valleys and the surrounding mixed forests.
